Christmas in Östersund
Östersund offers a lot of Christmas atmosphere from Mid-November until early January. Visit a Christmas market, have some glögg and gingerbread and go shopping under the beautiful Christmas decorations that light up the city every year. Below you find some of the highlights:
When the snowflakes begin to fall and it’s beautiful winter, you easily get into the holiday spirit with some classic Christmas carols filled with Christmas atmosphere. Niklas Strömstedt, Lotta Engberg, Lars Vegas Trio, Christmas Night, Roger Pontare and CajsaStina Åkerström are some musicians on the stage at Christmas. The Swedish Christmas Museum at Jamtli opens its festive season on the first Sunday in Advent with the inauguration of the super-sized Advent Calendar. Jamtli Christmas Market
The Christmas market at Jamtli is something special – allow your self to stroll around for hours and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere among the 100’s of craftsmen in an environment of the past. Here you can take the chance of buying Christmas presents and delicious delicacies for the Christmas dinner. Go for a sleigh ride, enjoy the lovely smell of mulled wine and gingerbread cookies and maybe create your own Christmas presents together with Spilloteket. A visit to Santa who lives in Lillhärdalsgården is of course a must, here the children can leave their wish lists to Santa and and enjoy a warm drink.
