Östberget nature trail

1,7 km

The nature trail is 1.7 km long and is perfect for the exercise round or for a shorter weekend excursion with coffee. It starts at the parking lot at the top of the new entrance at the Observation Tower. There is space to park both cars and bicycles. In winter there is also a cross-country track with electric lighting of 2.2 km, see cross-country skiing.

At the start there is an information board about the trail and after the trail there are information boards where you can learn more about Jämtland’s nature. During the summer season, there is a café and the opportunity to go up and look at the view through binoculars at the observation tower.

The trail goes through a hilly forest landscape. It is good to have boots, as the trail can be partly wet and with some roots on the path.
At the end of the trail, there is also a catch pit and a nice vantage point with a coffee table, where you can eat your lunch bag.

On Frösö Island

The path is 2.5 km long and runs mostly on roads and easy paths. Start where parking spaces are marked on the map and feel free to follow the path clockwise

The path tell you about Frösön’s important role during the Iron Age, but also something about nature and what might be hidden in Lake Storsjön.

Stengårdsstigen

Close to Frösö Camping

The path is roughly 3 km long and mainly easy going. The height difference is close to 100 m. Frösö camping is a good place to start. From the reception you go down to the lower part of the campsite, where you come across the marked path.

The Stengårdsstigen goes down the hill to one of Frösön’s preserved village roads, where there is, among other things, is told about the farm Mickelsgård and the Vallsundet ferry location.

The path tells about Frösön in recent centuries but also about ancient remains from the Iron Age.
