Discover the Northern Lights in Östersund/Jämtland

Join astro photographer Göran Strand in the grand darkness and silence at the beautiful Bynäset on Frösön. There is a great chance to experience the magical light phenomenon aurora borealis, more commonly known as the northern lights. The evening begins with an inspiring lecture on the aurora, as well as how to best handle your camera to catch the phenomenon. Then we walk  down to the beautiful Bynäset (about 1.5 km) in the light of caving head torches. There we look for the northern lights, enjoy warm drink & biscuits and enjoy the silence. In bad weather conditions, we will be indoors and have a longer lecture on the aurora and photography.

Photographer Göran Strand lives in Östersund, Jämtland. During recent years he has received great recognition for his photos and film sequences of different phenomena of the skies. He has contributed film and photographic materials to both Swedish and international film productions, several of his photos have been nominated “Astronomy Picture of the Day” by NASA and in 2014, the world-famous band Coldplay used one of his films of the Northern Lights in their music video “A sky full of stars.
