Boats at the Lake Storsjön

M / S Thomée built in 1875 on the Motala shipyard, the ship has been operating Storsjön since 1880. After several years of renovation, the ship does again on Storsjön.

From the end of May we run tours with our SuperTornado for group bookings out on Lake Storsjön.
Departure from Östersund harbor, visit abroad at Verkö Castle.
SuperTornadon has set a new level of boat experiences in Lake Storsjön. How about a lovely and speedy boat trip, castle bath and castle supper at Verkö Castle, with a home trip with the sunset over Storsjöflaket and the mountains in the background.

We can also combine a lake experience with SuperTornadon with a good meal at Verkö Castle, Sir Winston or UPSTAIRS in central Östersund.

SuperTornadon is bookable in June-July-August-September.

The steamer, Östersund was built in 1874 at Oscarshamn mechanical workshop.
Transported in parts by sea to Sundsvall, then transport on winter before by horse to Östersund for assembly. In 1886 the superstructure was rebuilt and the boat was extended 10 feet.

1903 further rebuild with new boiler and machine from Härnösand’s mechanical workshop. The boat went into traffic until 1963 when competition from modern means of transport became too great. The boat was sold for scrapping, but by a key of fate this was never enforced. After a number of years spent in a cove in Arvesund, the boat was purchased by an association formed for the purpose,The
association “Bevara Ångaren Östersund”, after which renovations were carried out so that it could be put back into service in 1989.

Take the kayak and experience the beautiful coast at Norderön and Verkön. If you want to stay longer, you can take a multi-day trip and continue towards Isön, Andersön and then on to the eastern shore of Storsjön. We are part of the Great Kayak that has produced a map with suitable resting places and suggestions for pleasant trips.
If you want to rent a kayak, it is best to book in advance!

If you want to bring your kayak to paddle in another location, we have a kayak stand that you can attach to the roof rack during transport.

Play Beach volleyball, swim from the bathing jetty and jump from the jump tower. For those who just want to sit back and enjoy the summer, there are hammocks, deck chairs and a lovely bungalow. In the cafe you can buy a nice Swedish Fika.

Norrland’s largest canoe center with over 25 years of experience organizing canoe trips for up to 14 days. Here you will find tips on day trips, weekend trips or long trips. We transport you and the canoe to a suitable starting point in the wilderness. For day trips there are plenty of tour suggestions where you can start directly from the campsite.
